Devout family loses two sons within hours

From the blog of Domenico Bettinelli Jr....

Here is a tragic story of both faith and family love. A devout Catholic family, the Davulis’, with 10 children, parishioners at Holy Trinity Parish, Boston’s Tridentine Mass community, have a 17-year-old son, Dominic, dying of cancer. On the day that son is dying, his beloved older brother, William, 26, dies in a motorcycle accident on the way to say goodbye to his younger brother. Dominic was a faithful altar server and had wanted to be a priest, following in the footsteps of his uncle, Fr. Domenic Gentile.

“When Dominic got sicker, he started asking people would they come with him,” said Terina, whose son was diagnosed with a terminal brain stem tumor on Dec. 20, 2005. “William told him he would go with him. I said, ‘Why are you telling him that?’ And he said, ‘He wants to think someone’s going with him. Let him think what he wants to hear.’ ”

Dominic was the senior altar boy at Holy Trinity and insisted on going to Mass and receiving Communion every Sunday, despite his weakened condition, until only three weeks ago.
