Photopost: Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God at Assumption Grotto

I'm still editing the photos from the Fr. John A. Hardon Memorial Mass held on December 30th and may have them done and posted later tomorrow.

Here is a slideshow of the annual 11:00pm vigil Mass on December 31st, for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God

This Mass is always in the Ordinary Form and is concelebrated.  Mass ended about 11:50pm and we went right into Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.  We no sooner completed the Te Deum Laudamus - a hymn of thanksgiving - when the sounds of the New Year rolling around in the inner city could be heard.   A post-Mass Rosary was prayed, then it all concluded with the chanting of the Veni Creator Spiritus and Benediction.

One interesting note, visible in the slideshow, was the stellar job done by one very young altar boy, who normally serves at the 6:30am weekday Extraordinary Form Mass (which, BTW has been discontinued as of January 4th).  He did a great job up there all by himself.  We let him know it afterwards too.

Most of those who came to the Mass went over to the school gym for a midnight pot-luck dinner. There were some new faces this year.

If the slideshow does not work, go the gallery for the 2010 Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God to view pictures individually.  You can change the pace to "Fast" above the filmstrip.
