Got prayer? Give it to the Pope!

It is easy to get caught up in news about the Holy Father's visit and discussing it. However, we need to consider the greater mission of Pope Benedict XVI and spend time praying for it's success.

There's no greater gift to give him on his birthday - today - than the gift of prayer. Pray that he is successful in reaching hearts with faith and reason at the UN and through the many addresses he will give here in the US. May young people hear the call to the priesthood or religious life through his visit as they did with John Paul II.

So much more could be said. However, let's just head to the adoration chapel and offer an hour for His Holiness, if not today, then tomorrow or the next day. If you can't make it today, offer a Rosary, a Litany, or 30 minutes reading Scripture or doing lectio divina. If you truly have no time to offer, then offer that up - your work - as a prayer! God will hear the cry of faithful hearts.
