Prayer request.....

You've probably noticed that I have not been blogging much of late. In fact, despite being off from work, I've barely managed to make it to Grotto for midnight Mass, and have not made it to any other activities. I've had to cut back completely on all activities as we work through this. God willing, I'll be back posting soon.

My mother is doing poorly and was transferred back to the hospital from the "skilled nursing facility" where whe was to be undergoing rehab. She's been there for 3 weeks to rehab a knee after an attack of gout. However, the therapists have been unable to work with her because her overall health is not good enough.

I made the decision to have her transported by ambulance to the hospital and they are keeping her at least 23 hours to undergo more tests.

Your prayers are much appreciated.

Thank you. I probably won't blog much, but may provide updates here in the combox.

I am just now (48 hours after the fact) cleaning up the Christmas Day dishes and kitchen, if you can believe it. I was going for 48 hours on 3 hours of sleep.

Things are finally starting to look up for Mom and after the doctor who originally released her a month ago to the nursing home for rehab rejected her admission, another Doctor was kind enough to take her case and admit her for 24 hours. After seeing her tonight and the progress she was making to Clindamycin for cellulitis in the legs, he decided she will stay a few more days. I noticed a big difference in the appearance of her legs with less redness and swelling. Plus, she was able to walk a little on her own. All it took was the right antibiotic.

It's a real catch-22 when the therapists say they can't work with her because of her ill condition, and the hospital saying she needs therapy!!!

It has taken extraordinary intervention once again on my part just to get her to this point and I am grateful to God for the kindness of the doctor who took her in.

Because of the amount of time invested in assisting Mom, I have been unable to get to Grotto to take more pictures. I am at a point where I am taking one day, and at times, one hour at a time.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers.

Diane,
I just got home from 7pm Mass at Grotto, and you and your mom came into my mind to pray for during the Eucharistic Prayer. I will continue to pray. You looked very tired at Midnight Mass. May God give you the strength you need, and I hope you will rest whenever possible. We'll miss your posts, but God has other things in mind right now. My mom is suffering from the same maladies, and was released from the hospital tonight. I know it is tough on both of you. God bless.

Likewise, Mary - I will keep you and your mother in my prayers.
