Call to Holiness News: Fall Benefit Dinner and Tentative Spring Conference Schedule

The Annual Call to Holiness Conference will take place in two locations in April 2007 (more info below). All speakers will be at both locations by commuting from one place to the other in the afternoon. Among those tentatively scheduled to speak will be Bishop Bruskewitz, advisor to CTH, Dr. Robert Fastiggi from Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Fr. Neil Roy from the Research Institute for Catholic Liturgy, Marcus Grodi (EWTN/Coming Home Network, and Dr. Alice von Hildebrand, who just visited Assumption Grotto for the 9:30 am Latin Novus Ordo on the weekend she spoke at a women's conference locally. (As an aside, she graced the choir with her presence at our rehearsal following Mass and gave us much encouragement after hearing some of the Cherubini Requiem to be performed today, with orchestra, at Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church today at 3:00pm).

Richard Thompson will be the keynote speaker at the November 19, 2006 Call to Holiness benefit dinner. The dinner takes place each year to raise money for the annual conference. Use the form in the benefit dinner link to order tickets, or just drop it off at the Assumption Grotto rectory.

The dinner will follow the Noon Mass, in which the Assumption Grotto choir & orchestra will sing. Orchestra Masses are typically a Latin Novus Ordo. It will be an all male chorus this time and a beautiful Mass, as follows (from the Grotto website):

Duruflé Messe cum jubilo
Poulenc: Organ Concerto

Two performances:

  • Sunday Nov. 19 at the noon Mass;
  • Sunday Nov. 26 at the 9:30 Mass;
Tickets for the dinner itself are 40 dollars and, as I mentioned, proceeds go to hosting the annual conference.

Here is the tentative schedule and list of speakers.
