"The Bible" miniseries begins tonight!

I have desires of making a post to discuss the upcoming conclave, sharing some interesting things I've been reading.  I may make another post later to begin that discussion.

For now, I want to pass along this info for those who have cable television.  A new mini-series is starting on The History Channel, which I do not normally trust for anything Christianity-related.  However, people at Assumption Grotto recommended it to me.  The mini-series is called, "The Bible." It will cover the most significant events in the Old and New Testaments.  It spans over 10 episodes, and concludes with the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter weekend. From the movie's website:

The Bible is a ten-hour, five-week, miniseries created and produced by husband and wife team, Roma Downey (Touched By an Angel) and Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor, Shark Tank, Celebrity Apprentice). For two hours each Sunday night in March, viewers will see some of the best-known stories from the Bible, from Noah's Ark and the Exodus to Jesus’ birth & the disciples. The final episode of The Bible TV miniseries will air on Easter Sunday and will feature the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

Mark Burnett and Roma Downey are Catholic.  I don't know anything about their "Catholicity" but I've heard the movie will be faithful to the Bible itself and that nothing is out of harmony with Catholic teaching.  I will certainly be interested to hear if anyone finds something out of harmony with Catholic interpretation of Sacred Scripture.  When you think about it, they have made a movie covering events that can be read in the Bible, so if they stick to that, it should be good. At the bottom will be an interview Raymond Arroyo did this past Thursday with the couple on EWTN's, The World Over Live.

There is a page for "The Bible" at History Channel with loads of info.   And, they have a Facebook page so you can "like" them to get updates.

For those without cable, I understand this will be available for purchase in April of 2013.  If you hunt around different stores online, I think you can find it for as cheap as $39.99 on pre-order. At Amazon it's going for over $50.

It begins at 8:00 PM ET tonight.  Here is a trailer.

The interview I mentioned earlier is in this video and it starts around the final 15 or 20 minutes of this one hour broadcast.  The first part, which may also be of interest, centered on the Pope's departure, and the upcoming conclave.
