UPDATED: Call to Holiness Conference this Saturday; Pontifical High Mass in EF Sunday!

NOTE: Audio link was added for Bishop Sample's second interview with Teresa Tomeo on 10/11/2012 below the first interview.

The Call to Holiness Conference: Celebrating Vatican II in the Modern Era will take place this Saturday at Immaculate Conception School in Warren, Michigan. While you can buy tickets at the door, you will not be guaranteed lunch unless you register. There is still online registration until October 11th.

Bishop Sample

The keynote speaker is Bishop Alexander Sample of the Diocese of Marquette. His talk is entitled: Revisiting What Vatican II Said About The Church.  You can hear Bishop Sample discuss this with Teresa Tomeo back in September on her show, Catholic Connection (it begins around 28 minutes into the recording).  If the player doesn't work in  your browser, click here.

EDIT 10/11/2012: Bishop Sample spoke to Teresa Tomeo again on October 10th for 9 minutes about the conference and the Solemn Pontifical Mass (1962 Missal) he will celebrate on the 14th at Assumption Grotto. Click here and after you begin playing the show (autoplay), you can drag the player to about 38 minutes and the roughly 9 minute segment starts soon after.  Tonight is the last night for online registration, but tickets can be purchased at the door for the adult and youth conference.  However, you won't be guaranteed a box lunch if you wait.  Also, the evening dinner could get sold out.

There also is an excellent article by Bob Delaney in the Michigan Catholic: Bishop Sample to keynote Call to Holiness

Debbie Bloomfield also discusses the conference with Teresa Tomeo in the 3rd segement of this recording.

There is also a Youth Conference at the same time with the speakers rotating between the two conferences.

There will be an opportunity to experience the Divine Liturgy at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church.

In the evening, there will be a dinner at St. Josaphat's Banquet Center for an added cost.  Father Zuhlsdorf will speak on the subject of Vatican II and Our Catholic Identity.

PONTIFICAL HIGH MASS on SUNDAY WITH BISHOP SAMPLE

The Traditional Latin Mass at Assumption Grotto moves to the Noon time-slot on Sunday, October 14th. Bishop Alexander Sample will celebrate a Pontifical High Mass in the Extraordinary Form at Noon - the first at Assumption Grotto in memory. It is open to all.  It will also be an orchestral Mass featuring the Mass composed by Fr. Eduard Perrone called, "Fountain of Beauty" (which he explains in detail, here).  These kinds of Masses do run longer, so be prepared.  The Grotto Knights of Columbus are offering an Italian Dinner following the Mass, with Bishop Sample and speakers.
