Two, upcoming pro-life events at Assumption Grotto

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14: National Day of Remembrance - Aborted

First, this Saturday, September 14, 2013, the Feast of the Holy Cross, will be a National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children.  At grave sites across the US, where the remains of aborted babies have been buried, people will be gathering to remember them.  You can find a place to participate, at a special website set up for this event.

Assumption Grotto Cemetery, which has a memorial for the aborted, is also the final resting place for a number of these babies and will be one of the sites.  I photographed one such burial, led by then Bishop Quinn, now of Winona, MN, with hundreds packing Assumption Grotto Church on a hot summer day  in 2008.

Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron will be at Assumption Grotto for this event.  From the page carrying the list of 42 burial sites across the US
(Note, I read something in error. The Archbishop will not be at this event to the best of my knowledge, but is coming on the 21st for the Helper's event listed below).

Talking to Fr. Perrone some weeks ago, he was telling me that he was going to be offsite that day for another commitment he made.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21: Helpers of God's Precious Infants Vigil

Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron will be leading the September prayer vigil for the Helpers of God's Precious Infants.  It begins with Mass at 7:30 AM at Assumption Grotto.  Participants then drive about 2 miles down Gratiot into a subdivision and park at St. Veronica's where a Rosary procession works it's way to the 8 Mile boulevard.  There the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet are prayed in front of two abortion mills, about a block apart on either side of 8 Mile.  They then will process back to St. Veronica's then, those who have time, go back to Assumption Grotto for Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament and a brief meeting with refreshments.

On September 11, 2010, more than 500 turned out for the vigil when it was held outside of a west side abortion mill.  See my photo story here.
