Relic of the True Cross on Grotto's apse

While photographing for the three-post series on the first Palm Sunday celebrated in extraordinary form, I took a couple of extra pictures from within the Sanctuary that may be of interest.

To the left of the Tabernacle on the apse of the altar between the tall candlesticks is an object that caught my eye. I knew that it was a relic, but wasn't sure what kind. So, I asked Fr. Perrone.

Father says that this is a relic of the True Cross. He has had it many years and decided to put it out when he began celebrating Mass in the extraordinary form which took place on September 14, 2007 - the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (scroll down for pics).

Click the pic below and you can actually read the wording inside the reliquary.

You can read about a relic of the True Cross at the Shrine of the True Cross website.
