This weekend: We Humble Ourselves - Turning a Nation Back to God

Sometimes it's a good idea to revisit history, and to understand how our nation was formed and what was on the minds of those who fought and died for the United States of America.

Fr. Perrone and Fr. John have talked about this event in Dearborn this weekend - We Humble Ourselves: Turning a Nation Back to God, and our pastor is directing the choir and orchestra for this event on Sunday. It is about getting back to our humble roots. This is not a Catholic event, but an American event.  Click through the main website for detailed schedule of the entire weekend, and see resources to learn more.

There was another interview done that I could not find at the moment and if I do, I'll update this post.

See also this promo video that was made.

Fr. Perrone's homily for August 23 now on GrottoCast

Last week, August 16th, there was a technical glitch on the recording end and the audio for that homily is not available.  I am  hoping to get text for it, but will wait to ask Fr. Perrone until after the event this coming weekend, We Humble Ourselves - Turning a Nation Back to God.  Fr. Perrone is conducting choir and and orchestra for that event on Sunday.  It is a weekend long thing.  Please visit the website in the link.  More later on that.

The homily for August 23 is available.   I recommend to people that if they have a smart phone or tablet to look for the free SoundCloud app, then do a search on GrottoCast and subscribe.   But, if you do this, be sure to also check the GrottoCast website weekly for other things, which are not audio.  If I do get text for Fr. Perrone's homily from 8/16, it will be posted there.  The best thing to do is input your email address into the tool provided in the sidebar at GrottoCast.com and as soon as any post is made, you will get an email.  This way you can monitor those things that are not at SoundCloud or be aware as soon as something does become available there.

Planned Parenthood Protests this Saturday

I meant to pass this along earlier in the week and got caught up in things.

This Saturday there will be nationwide protests against Planned Parenthood.  I think this is primarily a battle against Powers and Principalities - one that requires prayer and fasting.  That should be the first thing we do, begging God for an end to the horrific scourge of human sacrificed cloaked under the guise of "care."

That said, prayer and fasting can be accompanied by peaceful protests of this kind.  There is a website for the day which has the information you need to find a Planned Parenthood center near you.  The site has other useful info, but nothing graphic on the front page if you click the link.

The mission reads, in part:

ProtestPP is a coalition of pro-life groups calling for a National Day of Protest on August 22, 2015 at Planned Parenthood facilities all across America. Our goal is to raise awareness of the heartless and even illegal activities of Planned Parenthood by going to where the killing and harvesting of body parts from aborted children takes place. The four main sponsors are: Created Equal, the Pro-Life Action League, 40 Days for Life, and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.
Creating a presence at neighborhood Planned Parenthood facilities is essential to inform the public about what is going on behind closed doors. Local sidewalk counselors and activists are a key component to shutting down Planned Parenthood in the long term.
The National Day of Protest will strengthen local efforts by raising their profile with the local press, the community and other pro-life activists. Together, the protests held on August 22 will put pressure on the media, both local and national, to report the truth about Planned Parenthood, and on government officials to stop funding this discredited organization.

Locations:

Here you will find current locations for the August 22 #PPSellsBabyParts National Day of Protest. Unless indicated otherwise in the details for a location, all protests will take place Saturday, August 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. local time. (Click here, navigate to your state and find a location)

Go to Mass!

If you do something like this, try to make it to Mass.  Don't just protest, pray - pray for conversions.   Assumption Grotto has a 7:30 AM Mass Monday through Saturday.  I believe Ss Cyril & Methodius still has a 6:00 a.m. Mass on Saturdays. Call first.  I just went to the Archdiocese of Detroit website and did a search on Saturday morning Masses for the 7-9 AM toggle (obviously you need something quite early).  This may take you there, but I see 42 parishes have Saturday morning Masses.  Not all will work, but you just might find something. Or, look for a Friday night Mass.  Here's the AoD's.  You may need to toggle.

2015 Assumption at Assumption Grotto - Photos, Audio (homily), and more...

Yesterday, we celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  It was a hot day, and having fallen on a Saturday, was not obligatory.  Yet, many came to honor Mary at the grotto built in her honor in Detroit, especially at the evening Mass.

Rather than post lots of images here, I'll send you to my Smugmug site where I have most of these uploaded. Still to be added yet, are iPhone shots and video.

Also, Fr. Perrone's homily was captured from the 7:00 PM Mass. The quality is lower because it was not a direct feed, but it is definitely workable, and worth the listen.

More is coming tomorrow, including some iPhone photos that turned out quite well from earlier in the day, possibly the video that was taken with the GoPro (which also took many still shots you will see in the photo gallery above), and Fr. Perrone's homily from 6:30 a.m. Mass in which he spoke on the Holy Eucharist.  Check back tomorrow and I will update this post.

Bishop Schneider's latest interview - Holy Communion, SSPX

I am unable to make a full post, but want to pass along this interesting interview with Bishop Athanasius Schneider. In it, he discusses Holy Communion, and he also discusses his visits with the SSPX which has been in an irregular status with the Church, but continuing talks.

You can find the interview in Spanish and English. This link should take you to English. Scroll up for Spanish.

QUICK NOTES

Also, I believe Fr. Perrone's first post retreat homily will be available tonight or tomorrow. I've not had time to download it, but did hear it. He speaks, in part, about his annual retreat, having spent it with the monks at Clear Creek Monastery in Oklahoma. More on that soon.

The Assumption Day Schedule is available at http://AssumptionGrotto.com

And, finally, don't forget about the great event coming up at the end of the month in Dearborn: We Humble Ourselves - Turning a Nation Back to God. Visit http://wehumbleourselves.com

Fr Perrone will be conducting the choir and orchestra for part of the event, but there are many attractions. Check out the website.
