All Saints Day - Today
Correction: I am told today is not a Holy Day of Obligation in the Archdiocese of Detroit. However, consider assisting at Mass today and ask the Saints for intercession on tomorrow's elections!

The Mass schedule at Grotto is 6:30am, 7:30am, and 7:00pm.

All Souls Day - Tuesday
Fr. Perrone reminds us in his weekly column that while Mass is not obligatory on All Souls Day, it is an act of mercy for the souls in purgatory for us to assist at Mass.  Our friends, relatives, and those for whom there is no one to pray - the poor souls - need our prayers.   Masses will be 6:30am, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, and 7:00pm.  Fr. Perrone writes: "You may come to all the Masses you like that day and it will benefit the dead, but  Communion may be received only twice on a given day".  If memory serves, the second time must be in the context of Mass.

Election Day - Tuesday

One more reason to go to Mass on Tuesday.  As we pray for the souls in purgatory, we can ask include in our petitions an outcome that is right for the authentic "common good".  Please get out and vote. I am going to drop in a few resources here again.

Cardinal-designate Raymond L. Burke discusses voting.  Please watcht his video above in which he advises us on how to handle situations where there is more than one candidate, none of which are 100% pro-life.  Some are not voting for any of the candidates in these cases, or they are using a "write-in" name, which essentially gives the vote to the other side.  Those pro-lifers who did not vote for McCain because he was not 100% pro-life can see that the alternative is sometimes worse.  Now, we have one of the biggest abortion proponents in office wreaking havoc on the lives of the unborn with his actions.

Fr. Z has some text up on the above, so do visit his post on Cardinal-designate Burke's words, and the consideration his view should be weighted, given the positions he holds.

If you are in Michigan, you can use the Right to Life of Michigan's website to find pro-life candidates, and recommendations on proposals.  It is a system which I find works sometimes difficult, but do persist.  We had the same name and street name keyed in several times over a 10 minute period, and tried different variations to no avail.  Then, we went back to the name we used the first time, and it came up.  This happened for two different people who were using a computer lab.  So, keep trying.   Here is a direct link to the form.  Follow instructions.  Just type in your first and last name, then the street name without "drive" or "dr."

General Voting Info

Go to the Priests for Life page on voting.  It's a one stop shop on voting with a clear conscience.

The Michigan Catholic Conference also has some resources, and will contain more details about things like Proposal 1 (Please Vote; NO).
